March 28, 2025 I responded to an online rental advertisement. I now deeply regret that decision.
March 31st I went to the MTLPMG sales office and spoke with the sales team. The company’s horrible miscommunication in November and December 2024 lead to me being homeless, as their unprofessional management did not adequately place me in their data system as a sublease tenant. I enthusiastically reminded the sales team of that event, in which many employees from multiple departments expressed their deepest apologies and assurances of nothing to go awry in the future. I was told the employee responsible for making me homeless is no longer employed by the company. (This later turned out to be a fable of falsehood).
That 30-45 minutes of conversation in the sales office gave me a feeling of reassurance; I agreed to move forward in good faith to obtain another lease. I deeply regret that decision.
While viewing 4 properties online, using an office computer, citing the one I was most interested in, a salesman named Matt called me to his desk for some of my data.
I went outside to gather my STIPS (proof of personage and employment) for him and came back inside to see the property price had went from $945 up to $995 ($50 per month increase). This price literally changed in the one minute I was outside to get my STIPS. When questioning this, the sales team told me it had always been $995 and engaged in conversation to distract, make me feel confused and misunderstanding of the listing. (Another fable orchestratedin a team effort)
(Note, this is an actual sales tactic.)
However, after an 11 hour shift in a factory, I brushed it off due to my sense of urgency in seeking a home.
The next day, saleswoman/property account manager Cora showed me the home. During this time I cited a multitude of needed repairs. This property had been vacant for over a year and was a new property for their company. A current owner they deal with regularly recently acquired this property. So it was new to the company.
Cora wrote down 20+ items while we discussed them and viewed them. She was making a repair list. At the end of the viewing I told her I would agree to lease the home only if these repairs were made before a move in date and that I would be able to remodel the delapitated garage at my expense. (I needed a shop/garage for storage, wood, mechanical and metal working.) I also told her that I would like the work to be done by licensed professionals since the comapany has a repution for hiring unskilled workers for construction. Cora told me in a re-assuring manner that she would make sure only licensed workers would do the work, considering the precision needed. (This later turned out to be another fable).
Cora said she thinks that the repair list and my remodel request of garage would be fine, she just needed to contact the owner for approval. Cora stated that some of the items should have already been finished before showing me the property and apologized several times that it was not completed. (Cleaning, smoke detectors, holes in the house going from exterior to interior, allowing bugs/rodents and water to enter).
The next day Cora contacted me stating the owner agreed to all repairs with the stipulation that I pay $1000 per month and these items could be completed by 04/17/2025 , allowing move-in on 04/18/2025. (The lease/rental price had now gone up a total of $55 per month + company fees). I agreed to this proposal, something I now deeply regret.
From May 4th to the 17th, I was going to the property (with permission from Cora and the owner) to begin the remodel process on the garage. This work included a lot of demolition and cleaning along with rodent and pest removal. I conducted this work little by little after 10+ hour shifts in a Locomotive Assembly plant. During this time I noticed some construction being done by the company. Tire marks in the grass, lights inside left on, trash everywhere. Trash Trash, like to go food bags, boxes, cups and gas station soda bottles.
The construction/needed repair work was also evident as the workers filled two broken city utility waste cans to the brim with construction material. I had been hauling my trash from the garage away, as is the professional standard at any construction site.
I called MTLPMG to make them aware of all the trash left behind and inquired if these workers were even licensed, considering there were no signs of professionalism. I stated that it appears as if somebody was on drugs or drunk while working on the property. That or severely unskilled workers. Either way, it was shamefully evident.
Again, the MTLPMG staff were apologizing for their misconduct and stated that it would be cleaned up. Four days later, nothing had been done. I gathered 95% of the debris/trash and put it in the cans. I called again, spoke with Cora who made sure a trash service company would be arriving the next day.
She then said thank you while also apologizing, stating this never happens. (Turns out later to be another fable).
With 5 days counting down to the move-in date of 4/18/2025 I became concerned because 99.5% of the agreed upon repairs outside the home had not been started and in looking through the windows it seemed like 90% inside had not been started.
Only one item, the bathroom floor (aside pest control insect/rodent glue traps) had been worked and it was not completed (it still has not been completed as of today, over a month and half later, 5/19/2025). Shameful.
Outside was spray foam to repair a broken crawl space door, (an improper repair) which was one of two access points needing repair. It literally looks as if a 3 year old child did the work. The second point still has not been touched as of today. (5/19/2025)
I was not able to get anyone on the phone. My text messages were being read, but not replied to. My phone messages were not being replied to. At this point, it was evident that I had conducted more repair work (at my expense) to the garage than the company had done to the home.
I drove to the sales office where nobody was present, so I went to the payment office. Once there I stated that I was in the office to talk about _address provided_ with Cora or Matt. The counter secretary made a phone call and said someone is coming, go ahead back over there. (the offices are separated and seggragated into three different sections of buildings that were marriaged).
Standing there in my work uniform, a young man came through a door and said “hey man Cora and Matt aren’t here but you can follow me.” He introduced me to the maintenance manager/secretary (still unsure of her position with the company). The woman started typing and opening windows on the computer and asked me the name of my company, I told her and then jokingly stated that it was on my shirt with my name while pointing. This was the first time she had actually made eye contact with me or even looked at me. This was very condescending.
I told her I was here about ___provided address___ and wondering when the work was going to be completed, as it has already been over a week and half with now 4 days left to complete the work.
The woman asked me if I had my paperwork. Replying that Cora has it and I haven’t received any yet, I indicated that “it would be nice to have a copy of my lease” . The woman looked up at me alarmed and stated that she thought I was a contractor.
At this moment, I realized that there had not been a single construction worker who’s professionally skilled and licensed to the property. This woman was going to send me there and hadn’t even asked for an OSHA or Trade certificate. The woman became fidgety and nervous and asked me to follow her. She lead me right back to the payment office and told the desk secretary that someone needs to talk to me about my rental. The woman just rudely walked away as if I was some inconvenience. I believe she could be the scheduler for maintenance, but am still unsure.
Right then, Cora came walking into the office from the maintenance side door, looked at me not saying a word and went into an office. The desk secretary then went and got Cora’s attention. I was told to go ahead back to the sales office and she would be there in a few minutes.
20 minutes later Cora comes into the sales office. She seemed agitated and nervous to see me. ( Keep in mind, she had not been returning my phone calls and text messages. ) Cora then asked me how she can help me with a condescending attitude, almost pissy/salty attitude.
This was the first time Cora acted this way towards me. (However, it was the first time talking to me since I signed the lease agreement. ) I replied with a curious tone, asking if she saw my messages and got the voicemails.
She replied yes, but I have been very busy managing a new set of accounts for our business end and haven’t been able to do the residential ones yet.
I replied with the days date and pointing out the timing, only allowing 4 more days until move-in. Cora then fired back at me with an abrasive tone, stating that we are handling everything you don’t need to worry it will be finished before you move in. (This also, among many other things, turned out to be a fable).
Three days later, 4/17/2025, Cora calls me saying all repairs were made aside from the ceiling fan because they were waiting on parts, that the house and attic were thoroughly cleaned and everything is sparkling.
The moment I walked into my new home, it was dark outside, I instantly became furious.
Everything Cora told me was a flat out bold faced lie.
Whether that lie originated with her or the construction workers, it was an extravagant lie and cunning fable.
I immediately became more agitated because it was a holiday weekend and I would not be able to contact anyone until Tuesday morning. It was currently Friday morning.
Since then , it has been a genuine nightmare.
So I sit here now, mentally exhausted in trying to even explain what all has happened.
Drained
Frustrated
Migraines
Physical & Mental Exhaustion
Absolutely Nerve Wracked and Worried that nothing is going to get done, let alone in a timely manner.
I am seeking legal representation at this point.
Meanwhile 85 % of my personal possessions can’t be unpacked due to the needed construction .
Dakota got involved after I kept calling and showing up to the office with concerns that went unanswered/were blatantly ignored.
Dakota stated that he had to “get the owners permission ” to have the work completed. GET THE OWNERS PERMISSION????????? The owner already gave permission.
Dakota and Cora are two of the most disgusting sales people I have ever encountered in life.
They take no responsibility for their accounts, agreements or duties. It is very obvious all they want is to have people sign legal documents so they can peg them down legally for financial gaines.
I have countless photos, text threads, phone logs which all have time stamps to prove my claims and what you just read.
I need legal representation desperately. Please, if you have an attorney helping you with your circumstances, please provide me their contact information.
This company has really gotten away with too many fabeled falsehoods. Shameful. Pure and simple shame.
