Window pain… and mold

I rented from BSU rentals (owned and managed by Middletown Property Group) in 2018-2019. The address was 224 North Martin Street In Muncie, IN. A few smaller issues I had previously to the bigger issues I faced were misplacing of the rent I paid, which was required through a moneygram payment in person. They misplaced 3 of my rental payments on $800 and I had to fight with them over it, ultimately having to repay those funds. Along with this, they refused to contact USPS to replace the parcel mailbox key. This led to having multiple packages I ordered being trapped in the mailbox for 2 months. They also never replaced my regular mailbox key, so I was forced to get a parcel mailbox at a usps facility. As far as property management, it was the worst. Our heat in the apartment, while it worked most of the time, sounded like a helicopter coming through the air ducts. The vents were atrociously loud and vibrated the entire apartment, so much so that my downstairs neighbors checked on me to make sure things were okay. In the bathroom, there was black mold on the ceiling above the bathtub. When bringing this to the owners attention, through a maintenance request, someone showed up at mydoor and proceeded to ‘fix’ the black mold by painting over it with white paint. I was constantly getting sick in the apartment, and I assume it was due to this being a primary issue. The last big issue I had was that our bedroom window (a very large one) would constantly leak a large amount of water when it rained. It leaked so much that when this happened, I went through 7 bath towels to try and soak up the falling water and protect my bed and other belongings. This created the issue of my new mattress growing mold on the corner and inside of it near where the water had been coming down onto the bed. The owners did nothing to return communication about reimbursement through my rental insurance I paid them $15 a month for to get this replaced. Instead, I had to throw away a $1500 mattress I bought 2 months prior and sleep on the floor, away from the window, because their ‘fix’ for the issue was to paint the yellow markings on the ceiling, caused by the water leaking, white. I never saw this issue fixed or reimbursement for my belongings being ruined.
